Hays Caldwell Economic Development Partnership
The Hays Caldwell Economic Development Partnership (HCEDP) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit public-private partnership that serves as the regional economic development organization for San Marcos and Hays and Caldwell Counties. Based in downtown San Marcos, HCEDP works to strengthen the region—often promoted as the Texas Innovation Corridor—by attracting new employers and capital investment, supporting the expansion of existing businesses, encouraging entrepreneurship, and developing a skilled workforce. The organization brings together local governments, educational institutions, chambers of commerce, workforce organizations, and private-sector leaders to pursue strategic, sustainable economic growth. Since its founding in 2010, HCEDP reports that more than 70 companies have relocated to or expanded within the region, generating an estimated $2.9 billion in annual economic impact and creating thousands of jobs. Its broader goal is not simply business recruitment, but improving quality of life throughout Hays and Caldwell Counties by creating high-quality jobs, strengthening the regional economy, and positioning the area between Austin and San Antonio as an increasingly competitive place to live, work, invest, and grow a business.

Through downtown revitalization, beautification, business support, special events, and community partnerships, Main Street helps cultivate a welcoming environment filled with locally owned shops, restaurants, entertainment, arts, and gathering spaces. Its work celebrates the unique personality of San Marcos while encouraging thoughtful growth and economic vitality, helping Downtown remain a lively place where residents, visitors, students, and businesses can connect and experience the authentic spirit of the community.
San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau
The San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB), commonly branded as Visit San Marcos, is the City of San Marcos’ destination marketing and visitor-services organization. Its mission is to promote San Marcos as a premier year-round destination for leisure travelers, groups, meetings, conventions, and business visitors while generating a positive economic impact for the community. Through tourism marketing, visitor guides, social media, events, arts and cultural promotion, meeting and event assistance, and partnerships with local attractions and businesses, the organization showcases what makes San Marcos distinctive—from the San Marcos River and Hill Country outdoors to Downtown, shopping, dining, arts, live music, and Texas State University. The team also operates the Tourist Information Center and works with meeting and event planners to bring visitors and groups to the city.
Downtown Association of San Marcos
At the heart of San Marcos is a downtown filled with local character, historic charm, creative energy, and a strong sense of community—and the Downtown Association of San Marcos (DASM) works to keep it thriving. Established in 1978, this nonprofit organization brings together local businesses, property owners, residents, and community advocates who share a passion for preserving what makes Downtown San Marcos special while encouraging thoughtful growth and continued economic vitality. San Marcos Chamber of Commerce
The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce has served as a cornerstone of the San Marcos business community since 1903, bringing together local businesses, community leaders, educators, nonprofits, and government partners to strengthen the city’s economic vitality and quality of life. With more than 600 area businesses and organizations participating in its network, the Chamber serves as the community’s “voice of business,” providing advocacy, meaningful connections, leadership development, education initiatives, networking opportunities, ribbon cuttings, and programs that help businesses grow and thrive.
